Digital x-rays or radiographs are done with an annual dental exam in Encino, CA to provide an interior picture of your oral health. Digital x-rays make it easier for dentists Drs. Alan and Yonatan Howard to diagnose concerns that aren't visible by the naked eye, and to understand more about your oral health by showing the interior of your teeth, gums, and jaw. There are several oral health conditions that may be diagnosed with digital images including decay, cavities, abscesses, cysts, tooth impactions, and bone loss. If these conditions are discovered in the early stages, you may have more effective and less invasive treatment options. As part of your dental examination at The Dental Office Encino, digital x-rays will help Dr. Alan or Yonatan Howard accurately diagnose and correct dental conditions.
Digital X-Rays Reviews
"A damn good dental experience all around. The staff is very competent and friendly. They have new dental equipment, video cams, digital x-rays, not to mention the treatments rooms all have massage chairs and tv with cable you get to control. Dr Yonaton is bad ass. He filled a cavity and repaired a botched root canal filling in about 20 minutes on me, maybe less and he did a great job of it, no pain or rough edges. Amazing!"- C.S. / Yelp / Sep 15, 2011
"I have been coming to dr Alan howard since I was a child. Now I see him and his son, I feel as though they are family. They have so much passion for dentistry, and the office has technology that you only read about. They just acquired a cone beam 3d X-ray unit which allows them to place implants without cutting into the tissue! Everything is done virtually on computer to prevent complications. Most of all they gave me a beautiful smile and truly care about me. I have referred friends and family and everyone loves them!!!!!!"- S.B. / Yelp / Jun 19, 2014
"AMAZING experience from start to finish!! From the moment I called to ask questions and book my appointment, the staff was extremely helpful, personable and professional. Their intake forms are all submitted to you via email in advance so that you can complete them in your own time and safely (avoiding unnecessary paper handling due to COVID-19). I was also emailed and texted reminders and parking instructions beforehand! Upon entering the office, I was warmly greeted and the receptionist took care of me quickly. I was given a tour of the facility and instructed on how to follow all COVID safety measures. Each patient’s space has a massage dental chair and a TV with various streaming platforms to watch your favorite programs while you wait to be seen. The technology they use for x-rays, imaging and dental photos is high-end and high definition. You can view all of the appropriate dental images on the TV in front of you which is very convenient too!Dr. Howard was very friendly, honest and knowledgeable about what exactly was necessary for my teeth. I’ll admit that it had been a longggg time since I’ve been to the dentist, but Dr. Howard did not judge or criticize me at all. He and the dental hygienist, Brittany - were very kind, gentle, speedy, thorough and transparent about what was needed. They made sure my insurance went through, gave me an estimate of future work that needed to be done and scheduled me for my next cleaning.I would highly recommend The Dental Office of Encino to any and everyone!! They are safe, friendly and fun!"- C.O. / Yelp / Jul 02, 2020
For most patients, x-rays are included in your dental examination. Digital x-rays may be performed as part of a preventative dental treatment plan or if you are concerned about pain in your mouth. Even though digital x-rays emit significantly less radiation compared to film x-rays, The Dental Office Encino likes to minimize patient exposure. Although digital x-rays are usually safe for all patients, female patients who are breastfeeding or may be pregnant should talk to Dr. Alan or Yonatan Howard at the start of their appointment so extra cautionary steps may be taken.
What to Expect
Digital x-rays are a very low dosage radiographs, 10% radiation compared to conventional film. Often performed at the start of your dental exam, digital imaging takes around 5 – 10 minutes to do. You will get a set of x-rays to show the interior of your teeth, gums, and jaw. Once they are complete, they will be uploaded to be viewed by you and Dr. Howard throughout your examination. He will show you any areas of concern and go over treatment options.
A set of digital images will generally be performed once a year at your dental examination. For certain exams, a full mouth set may be performed for a more comprehensive view of your teeth, gums, and jaw. Your digital images will be stored with your oral health file at The Dental Office Encino, so Dr. Howard can view trends and address any developing problems.
Usually, dental insurance will include and cover digital imaging costs as part of a dental examination. Our office can talk to your insurance company to estimate potential balances. If you have any remaining costs or if you are not using insurance, The Dental Office Encino offers several methods of payment and we can give you information on financing.
